Bakken oil to pass through Wyo in $300M pipeline

Wyoming Business Report

An Oklahoma company is planning on installing more than 460 miles of new 12-inch pipeline between Bakken fields near Dore, N.D. to Guernsey where it can connect to other lines.

The $300 million line, to be built by Hiland Crude, would probably connect to the Tallgrass Energy pipeline that would feed into a higher-priced market in Cushing, Okla.

The line appears to be an extension of a 125-mile pipeline announced last November that would transport up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day between its origin and Baker, Mont. Even then, the connection to Guernsey was anticipated, but it seems to be firming up.

The Associated Press reported that Hiland Vice President Jim Suttle discussed the project with Converse County Commissioners yesterday, but the commissioners reportedly took no formal action on the topic.

Neither Suttle nor another company contact was immediately available for interview before press time.
